Either way it’s still spelled wrong. I do agree with everything you wrote tho. I also have a book where the author said SQL is pronounced squirrel… ever heard that one before?

Comparing clean PHP with RoR is stupid.
Comparing RoR with PHP framework like Zend, Symfony, Kohana and (best of all, IMHO) CakePHP makes much more sense.

Or, we could compare clean Ruby to PHP, and I personally think that Ruby owns. It has MUCH nicer syntax, it’s OO from very beginning, it has lambdas and blocks, and I think that is ideal language for programmer newbie, because programming in ruby seems kinda more natural than in PHP, Pascal or (yuck!) C.

And correct, that RoR guy looks gay.

Amen brotha. I’m more of a designer than a programmer but I’ve dived into various programming languages over the last 10 years just to get the feel for them. All and all I’ve finally landed on ruby and jQuery as my favorites. This is coming from an advanced newb , now stepping in as a intermediate user, it just makes more sense, looks cleaner, and I actually know what is going on with my code the second I step into it. PHP is faster but Ruby/RoR fits 95% of my needs so I’m sticking to it.

So why don’t you redefine your pluralize method and change gooses to geese? That’s the beauty of RoR being completely Ruby; it’s so damn easy to change methods or add new ones.

@addiktion13 – I’m glad it can be changed so easily, but I’d rather not to have to fight against a framework. I accept this is a probably a simple one to change, but if I didn’t want to use plurals on table names, or call my keys “id”, or talk to more than one database (etc, etc) then I’m screwed.

I find the level that the CoC is taken to distasteful.

PHP should be compared to Ruby & not RoR which is a framework not a script / language.
It’s like comparing a car engineer to a mechanical, get real people!
